Get Ready for the New & Improved Drug Discount Monitor

Important information for subscribers about resetting your password and our new features.

May 22, 2012—On Thursday May 24, we're re-launching the Drug Discount Monitor with a new look and new features to enhance your reading experience. You'll now be able to get instant email alerts whenever we publish new articles, subscribe to a Monitor news feed, follow us on Twitter, and do keyword searches of our previous stories dating back to February 2009. To access our improved Web site, you might have to reset your password. Continue reading for more details.

An Overview

During the past year, Safety Net Hospitals for Pharmaceutical Access (SNHPA), which publishes the Monitor, began using new software to manage registration for 340B Coalition events. (As a Monitor subscriber, you are entitled to a discount on these events, such as the upcoming 340B Coalition Annual Meeting July 9-11 in Washington, D.C. Click here for more information.) If you have registered for a 340B Coalition event since the middle of last spring, you already know that the software changeover required you to reset your SNHPA password. We are now beginning to use the same software to manage your access to the Monitor. If you have not reset your password yet, you are going to need to do so to access the Monitor and to register for 340B Coalition events.

How to Get Your New Logon Credentials

To access stories on drugdiscountmonitor.com or to register for a 340B Coalition event, you need a logon name and a password.

Logon name. We have already set up your logon name for you. By default, it is your email address.  If you ever forget your logon name, click here.

Password. Some Monitor subscribers might need to reset their password. If you registered for a 340B Coalition event during the past year, you have already taken care of this. If you do need to reset your password, click here and follow the simple instructions. We will email you a link to a page where you can create a new password.

Update Your Contact Information

On Thursday or anytime after May 24, please take a minute to check that we have the most up-to-date contact information for you in our database. Once you have logged in to the Monitor site, click the My Account link in the top right portion of any page.

Accessing the Monitor Online

Beginning May 24, subscribers will access the Monitor at a new, shorter Web address:  drugdiscountmonitor.com. It will no longer be necessary to enter the "www" at the beginning of our address, but if you do, that's fine. If you navigate to www.drugdiscountmonitor.com, you will be automatically redirected to drugdiscountmonitor.com.

To get started, just fill in the "Username" and "Password" boxes in upper right part of the new Monitor home page and click the "Login" button. To open an article, click on its headline on our home page. When finished, hit your Web browser's Back button to return to the home page or click "Home" in the page's menu bar. To print an article, click on the "Print This Article" link at the top of each article for a printer-friendly version.

Three ways to get Monitor news in real time

Beginning May 24, you will have three new ways to get instant alerts when we publish new articles.

New article alerts via email. You will now be able to subscribe to instant news alerts via email. In the upper right part of the new Monitor home page you'll see the words "Get new article alerts via email." Enter your email address in the white box and click the blue arrow. You can also subscribe by clicking the hyperlink that appears at the end of each story. We strongly encourage all readers to subscribe to this new service.

RSS feed. Also for the first time, Monitor readers will be able to subscribe to a news feed of our headlines using RSS (Really Simple Syndication). Click on the bright orange RSS icon in the upper right part of the new Monitor home page and follow the instructions.

Twitter. Readers can also stay on top of the Monitor by following us on Twitter. Look for the light blue box in the lower right part of the new Monitor home page and click on the "Follow us on Twitter" link.

The Monitor will continue to send you periodic email messages with links to our most recent articles. We might discontinue these emails if readers begin using our new article alert services in large numbers.

Search the Monitor Archives

You will now be able to do keyword searches of our previous stories dating back to February 2009 by clicking on the Search tab in the dark blue box in the upper right part of the new Monitor home page. PDF versions of the former print-only version of the Monitor will be available by clicking the Archives tab.
